Our Philosophy

At the Hollow, we believe that a one-size fits all approach doesn’t always work. That’s why our approach incorporates various educational practices across a spectrum of early childhood philosophies. Like the Montessori approach, we teach children to navigate the world around them with independence and confidence. Like the Reggio Emilia approach, we offer a rotating array of engaging materials to encourage self-expression and self-exploration. We also foster imagination and pretend play through open-ended toys and outdoor play every day.

At the Hollow, we are dedicated to building community. We strive to create meaningful relationships with parents and offer opportunities for connection and support. We foster a sense of belonging, significance, and fun among our students through daily morning circle, positive teacher language, and social/emotional learning. Our staff experiences in house professional development and coaching sessions to support their development as early childhood educators.
